Hello,
My name is Melissa Miller (Fenyo) and I’ve been a Social Worker since 2010, working primarily with adolescents within non-government and Health settings and also in suicide prevention and mental health in CALD specific service settings. I currently am a sessional academic, tutor and social work supervisor as well as a yoga teacher. I completed my trauma informed yoga teacher training (YTT) in 2023 run by the incredible Yoga Impact Charity. I’ve been practicing yoga on and off for over 20 years but never thought to teach yoga until I became aware of trauma informed yoga.
The evidence continues to grow around the benefits of yoga in regulating the nervous system, strengthening the body muscles and the immune system, reducing symptoms of depression and anxiety, improving sleep and overall wellbeing and helping to manage pain..
I offer a practice to you that is guided by trauma informed principles: Safety, Trust, Choice, Collaboration, Empowerment and Respect for Diversity. Modifications are offered, curiosity in shapes are explored, wobbly balancing is welcome. It is about getting on the mat, grounding, connecting to breath, tuning in, and hopefully feeling more connected after the practice. Plus with the bonus of taking all the tools / treasures that you have learnt and taking them OFF the mat and using them in your day to day life.
My intention is to support people to find safety in themselves and provide opportunities for self connection and self awareness. The magic is all in the breath.
I’m looking forward to this journey and so pleased you’ve found me x

I believe everyone deserves yoga and to feel safe and connected in mind, body and spirit. Honeybee Yoga is an integration of elements of my social work experience combined with my passion for yoga and social justice. Yoga has helped me so much in my life and it’s a privilege to offer a style of practice which can support others.

Melissa offers a variety of trauma informed programs for a diverse range of services, she can create personalised one off workshops, a practice to include in a conference or as part of a retreat and also one on one classes. Feel free to reach out to Melissa to discuss further.
